May 11th - Brunswick, MD

Another 7.30 start. Another mediocre (unenhanced) breakfast. Short david and craig today, who returned home. Dry, sunny weather and on paved path (except leiter, the only person who truly rode the whole trail) for 10 miles to Fort Frederick, built in 1756 for french-indian war. Only British stone built fort in north America. Some revolutionary war and civil war history here too. Lots of cool hydro technology along the trail - aqueducts, locks (including one set of 4 to avoid 4 mile bend in river) and dams - to move stuff 200 years ago. Headwinds in beautiful big slackwater section, where there is no canal, otherwise massa massa. Mostly rode separately today, some ate in williamsport, others in sheperdstown for lunch and some walked over to harpers ferry. Bruce feeling lethargic so leiter carried his bags, including up the insane (20+٪) hill into nice hotel in brunswick. Brutal rain for the stragglers. Mexican for dinner next door as we werent going down the hill again. 73 miles.
