May 7th - Belle Vernon, PA

After non-coffee and bagged muffins at the extended stay,got back on the trail towards Pittsburgh looking for real food. Through ungentrified (i.e. very industrial) western part of the city, along the ohio river to Bicycle Heaven museum and shop. 5000+ bikes, many antiques - very cool. Then into city to meet foody and his fixed bike and onto the real GAP. Turtle, goat and deer wildlife sitings. Lots of steel bridgea over monongahela river, many abandoned steel/other factories alongside - an industrial area of the country that feels surreal. Ice cream stop in boston, and trekked through west newton along youghiogheny river, good trail, half paved/half smooth dirt. So nice riding by water with no cars. Ended the day going up a big hill to clarion inn (4.54pm arrival), a step down from prior day with several more steps to go. Jason trying to figure out a plan to avoid the Super8 in a few days. Sun, clouds, shade, spit of rain. And mincha with a minyan, a bike trip first.  64 miles, plus 2 to dinner at golf club.
