May 9th - Cumberland, MD

Big breakfast and otr early with rain forecast. Steady climb up to eastern continental divide, had half hour of sun, few hours of clouds before first drops. Ain't so bad. Through big savage tunnel and over the mason & dixon line into Maryland and tne south. Great 1.5% 20 mile downhill into Cumberland, some of us got to race the train through the horseshoe bend. Massa massa. Dinner at baltimore grille then axe throwing, Lowenstein sticking 7 in a row -big night out in town!   First real fall crossing the RR tracks (David), couple flats (craig, sinclair) but overall successful completion of GAP stage. 62 miles.
